How To Find Nursing Articles on the Library’s Databases

1.     Go to Library homepage http://www.brcc.edu/library/

2.       Click on Find Articles, second link on the left margin.

3.       Select Houff Library Periodical Holdings on the bottom of the next screen.

4.     Use either the VIVA Online Journal Locator or the VCCS Online Journal Search .  They both do the same thing, though they index different journals, so it is worthwhile to check both.

5.     Type in the journal name you are looking for.  Be sure and click the Title Browse button

6.       If you use the VCCS one, then click on the List Links link.

7.       Then select which database covers the years your article appears.  The listing could be quite long, as below.  Click on the hyperlinked database name to bring up that particular database.

8.       If you select one of the InfoTrac databases, you can then do an Advanced Search as shown below.  Be sure and change the drop down box so it says Title.  Whatever you know about the article, type in that information, as there are many different ways to search, as shown in the drop down box below.  Or you can always do a subject search if you are just beginning your research.

9.       Your search results will show up at the very bottom of the page on the InfoTrac databases, as shown below.  Click on the hyperlinked View word.

10.  It will then bring up the citation to your article.  Check to make sure this is the article you want.

11.  Then click on either the hyperlinked journal article title or the word Text.  This will bring up your article.

12.  Here’s your article.

13.  To print, click on the blue Print button on the left margin.  If you print from the printer icon at the top of the page, it often cuts off the right hand margin on the article.

You’re finished!
